In our digital age, some feel we are quickly losing our ability to have strong relationships with other people.  Without having a connection with others, whether it be your kids, your neighbor or the checker at the grocery store, we can lose our sense of self. Here are 3 things you can do today with those around you to create a connection for both you and for them.

1.  Notice others.  If it’s your kid, notice what color socks they are wearing and tell them. Notice your neighbor got his car washed, notice the checker at the grocery store seems happy today. People need attention and by just sharing that you “noticed” something about them will make both you and them feel good. And you may be surprised how it gets them talking!

2.  Listen.  Turn all your gadgets off and just be there for someone. Really listen to what they have to say and try to think how it makes them feel. Don’t be too quick to offer advice unless it’s asked for. Most people just want to be heard, not told.

 3.  Make their day.  This is a fantastic way to really connect with others. Find what makes others smile, laugh, or just feel good. Then repeat day after day
